A woman who lost a wedding ring given to her 61 years ago has been reunited with it after she issued a public appeal over the radio.

Cora Maguire lost the ring two weeks ago in Dunnes Stores, Henry Street, and thought all hope was lost after it wasn't found.

“I’d been back three times to Dunnes and they told me, no, It hasn’t been handed up,” she told RTE’s Philip Bromwell this afternoon.

“I’ve been praying and praying and I spoke to our Lady… She never let me down once, but I said to her this time is the only time you’ve let me down - and she didn’t.

“I wasn’t eating or drinking or sleeping,” she said.

A woman named Kathleen had found the ring on the floor of Dunnes and had handed it in to security. But the ring had been taken up to the office where it might have been lost, had an appeal not been issued over the radio.

The appeal made Kathleen remember about the ring and she got in contact with Dunnes Stores who re-united Cora with the object.

She expressed her deep gratitude to Cathleen for re-uniting her with the object that meant so much.
