VisionD gives glimpse of Skoda's future
THIS is the new shape of things to come from Skoda.
New images of its VisionD concept car have been released by the Czech manufacturer.
The VisionD was first unveiled at the Geneva motor show last March but these new advanced pictures underscore the sort of designs that will be part of future Skodas.
This is a medium-size fastback with sharp lines -- and note the new grille.
Cabin space has long been a big selling point for the Czech Republic automaker and the long wheelbase with short overhangs design allows for that.
Among the more futuristic elements in the cabin are clear glass on the centre console and fewer elements in the switchgear. Most of the controls are likely to be centred on a small touchpad.
The VisionD and the MissionL, which was shown at Frankfurt in September, have a lot in common, with insiders saying the former could be the hatchback production version of the latter. The MissionL is not far off the size of a current Octavia.
Both are part of a drive to roll out a new car every six months as part of a major overhaul of the current range.
It is reported that the new Octavia, due early 2013, will expand to slot in between the MissionL and the Superb.
