Chrysler Group has confirmed that the next-generation Viper will go into production in late 2012 and that it will reopen its Conner Avenue assembly plant to produce the vehicle, bringing nearly 150 jobs back to the City of Detroit.
The all-new Viper will also be the first vehicle launched exclusively as a 'Street and Racing Technology' (SRT) product. This will not only allow SRT engineers to push the boundaries of the Viper's design and performance even further than before, but it also potentially opens the vehicle up to a much wider audience than would have been the case if it was to be marketed solely as a Dodge.
SRT will continue to develop ultra-high performance Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep products and will also maintain its motorsport programmes, which are vital to the research and development of new technologies and engineering solutions.
