Something old, something new with Mercedes E-Class

The heavily revised Mercedes E-Class has arrived here. Classic and Elegance versions have traditional triple-louvre grille and bonnet-mounted star. These are expected to maintain a more traditional sort of buyer.

Avantgarde versions aim for more youthful drivers and have a sports-style grille and the famous three-pointed star is inset in it.

The E200CDI (€270 road tax) diesel will be a big seller (from €44,540 ex-works) and so will the more powerful E220CDI (from €47,110, €270 road tax).

And there's the big-hitting E250CDI (from €49,495, €270 road tax).

Two petrols – the E200 BlueEFFICIENCY (from €47,015, €390 road tax) and E300 BlueTec Hybrid automatic (from €53.020, €190 road tax) make up alternatives to the diesels.
