Polo wins the world car of the year
THE Volkswagen Polo is the 2010 World Car of the Year. It beat off competition from the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Toyota Prius in the final frame.
Volkswagen’s BlueMotion (Golf, Passat, Polo) was declared the World Green Car of the Year. It was chosen from an initial entry of 13, nominated by 59 World Car jurors from 25 countries. Padraic Deane was the Irish juror.
The World Green Car award is sponsored by Bridgestone and Ryoji Yamada. The Honda Insight and Toyota Prius were the other finalists.
And finally, the Audi R8 V10 was declared the World Performance Car of the year.
The Ferrari California and the Porsche 911 GT3 were the other two finalists. The Chevrolet Camaro was declared the 2010 World Car Design of the Year.
