My side of the road

My side of the road

It may just be I've wandered too far from the smoothness of major roads. But my goodness, I have to say I think some of our secondary roads are in downright poor condition.

I know it is easy to whinge and that we have had more than roads to worry about for years now. Yet there is a critical time – and it can be a short window – where doing something can avert far costlier repairs later on.

As well as that, some of those roads must be murdering tyres and suspensions, not to mention the extra cost of fuel from driving slower in lower gears.

I'm too cynical to expect all the extra taxes we are paying this year will go towards doing something real with those sort of roads. Pressure for expenditure on so many other areas must be enormous. Sometimes though a stitch in time will save nine and we need badly need to mend a lot of our roads. Let me know what they are like in your area.
