motoring updates

I also drove a couple of other models I was anxious to update on.

I also drove a couple of other models I was anxious to update on.

The main one was the front-wheel-drive Mokka 1.7-litre diesel crossover. I was not impressed with the 4WD 1.4-litre turbo petrol I had on test a few months back.

This, however, altered my perception and just goes to show the effect an engine and technology can have. This is a far, far better proposition and is a much better drive.

Astra saloon

A good drive in this confirmed my earlier impression that the Astra saloon is the pick of Opel's small-family line-up. It is accounting for one-third of sales and is particularly popular outside Dublin.

Opel also claims its engines have come way down on emissions.

It was a miserable day for a drive around Wickl-ow, but it was nice to catch up with these – and sample a little bit of Adam fun.
