MG Motor, the British sports car brand owned by the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), plans to introduce a hybrid version of its newly launched MG6 hatchback.
The hybrid version is likely to go on sale in early 2013 and should improve fuel consumption by around 20pc. SAIC is also considering whether to sell an MG version of the small electric city car that it is developing for the China-only Roewe brand, which has a range of around 144km.

There will be a 5dr to combat the likes of the Nissan Juke and there will be a 3dr version on a smaller scale. The 5dr is pencilled in for two years down the road with the 3dr some time after.
