Stylish ‘new’ Mondeo on way
FORD’S heavily revised ‘new’ Mondeo goes on sale here next month and the company has just announced the line-up and an indication of prices.
It gets a wide spattering of interior and exterior changes as well as a heavily tweaked 2-litre TDCi.
Designed to benefit from the emissions-based tax system, the new line-up will comprise 6- speed 2-litre TDCi models with 115bhp, 140bhp and 160bhp and 115PS, 140PS and 160PS.
While price details will be announced closer to arrival, Ford insists that the Style entrylevel 2-litre 115bhp model will cost below €26,000 – a good drop on the €26,650 tag on the 1.8-litre 100bhp TDCi.
All manual transmission models have a CO2 level of just 139g/km (Band B/€156 car tax). It will come in three trims: Style, Zetec and Titanium. Standard equipment on Style includes: air con; front fogs; 16-inch alloys; electric/heated body-coloured door mirrors with integrated indicators; electrically adjustable driver’s seat; seven airbags (including driver’s knee airbag); radio CD with AUX in MP3 connection.
Zetec adds dual zone climate control; cruise control; 17-inch alloys; front/rear parking distance sensors; leather steering wheel; and electric windows.
The Titanium adds Sports style front seats; Alcantara/ leather seats; LED daytime running lights; automatic head-lights; and rain sensor wipers.
Meanwhile, the next-generation Ford Focus will grab the headlines at the Paris Motor Show on September 30.
This will be the first time the three production-ready body styles will be put on show together
The new model goes on sale here in the spring. Making its world premiere will be the flagship of the range, the Focus ST, which hits roads in 2012.
