Drivers dodge blame for damaging cars

ONE-IN-FIVE motorists said they would not own up if they had damaged a parked car, a survey revealed.
And around 20pc said the sort of car they hit would determine whether or not they left their details.
The poll, by insurance firm elephant.co.uk found:
- 45pc said they had had their own parked car damaged and only 15pc were left the details of the culprit.
- Two-thirds would not leave details if there was no obvious damage to the car they hit.
- Only 1pc would leave details if they hit a hot-hatch such as a Volkswagen Golf GTi.
- 61pc of women and 56pc of men would always leave their details if they caused visible damage.
