Citroen rolls out its 'green' new C4 hatch
CITROEN'S new C4 family hatch has just arrived.
Fractionally larger than its forerunner, the new C4's compact external dimensions are 4.33m (l), 1.79m (w), 1.49m (h).
There is a high level of equipment but you can add to it by, for example, ordering massaging front seats -- a first in this sector.
Other spec items include a new blind-spot monitoring system, cornering light, cruise control and speed-limiter.
Critically emissions range from 109g/km and there is a gear-efficiency indicator as standard to keep you on the straight and narrow.
There are three petrol engines, part of co-operation with BMW (VTi 95, VTi 120 and THP 155) and four HDi diesels (HDi 90, HDi 110, e-HDi 110 and HDi 150). Power ranges from 90hp to 155hp. Transmissions include automatic, five-speed and six-speed manuals and a six-speed EGS.
Interestingly, Citroen's micro-hybrid e-HDi drivetrain is also in the line-up with the HDi 110 engine and EGS transmission. Emissions here are 109g/km, with the promise of 99g/km on future models.
Also on this is a second-generation stop-and-start system , with the benefits of regenerative braking.
The C4 is for January sales. There will be three trim levels: VTR, VTR+ and Exclusive. Prices start from €18,990 ex-works, with the range-topping 1.6e-HDi 110hp EGS Exclusive costing €25,740.
Standard equipment includes cruise control, six airbags, ESP, hill-start assist, air con, electric windows and a six-speaker surround sound system.
