Caught on CCTV: Pedestrians close shave as car ploughs through crash barrier
Lucky driver misses two pedestrians
UK Police have released CCTV footage after a car left the road and collided into Hopwood Hall College, badly injuring the driver and causing extensive damage to the building.
The grey Mini Cooper S was travelling along Manchester Road towards Rochdale when the driver apparently lost control at the junction of Dane Street.
The car crossed the central reservation and collided with the railings, before ploughing into the college.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, suffered head injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Police Constable Simon McEvoy of Rochdale division said:
“We are investigating the circumstances leading up to this collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call us as soon as possible.
“We are particularly keen to speak to the two witnesses in the CCTV who were walking on the pavement at the time of the crash and may be able to assist us with the investigation.”
