Amber Lounge is the place to be seen during the F1 GP, it only runs in four locations and Irish Woman Sonia Irvine started it over fourteen years ago. Sonia was only in Ireland for a couple of days so I arranged to meet her in Eddie Irvine Sports.
Just outside Belfast in a little town called Bangor there's a go-kart track and sports area owned and run by ex-Formula One driver Eddie Irvine, it's called Eddie Irvine sports and manages to have acres of go-kart track along side indoor football and Paint ball.
Sonia Irvine is Eddie's Sister and she has been involved in the F1 scene for nearly 20 years. She went from being Eddie's physiotherapist to owning and running Amber Lounge.
Amber Lounge is a place for VIP's to hang out, although anyone can buy tickets on-line ranging from the €650 mark it is still an exclusive club, this allows access to everything and drinks are included. It's an exclusive club, the F1 drivers all hang out there along with putting on fashion shows for the public.
It's one of the few events during the F1 year that the public can go to and actually hang out with the people behind the scenes.
Before Amber Lounge Sonia worked with Eddie as not only his physiotherapist but PR. When he moved to the Jaguar team Sonia didn't want to go, she had bigger ambitions and that's where Amber Lounge started.
This year Amber Lounge will be in Monaco, Singapore, Mexico City and Abu Dhabi.
