Why Citroen say this new C3 hatchback will be their most important launch here for six years
Citroen's new C3 supermini is just going on sale and we have the Irish prices for you - they start at €15,490 ex-works.
The funky hatch is being described as the most significant car for the brand here in the past six years.
It has already won praise for its cabin and 'different' looks but a big test awaits here. The brand has been pushing hard to get more buyers in Ireland.
It will be interesting to see how potential purchasers react to this supermini.
It is a competitive field - the likes of the Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai i20, Mazda2, Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa, Renault Clio, Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Polo, etc are among its rivals.
Citroen are certainly putting in the effort - with a decent spread of standard equipment. Powering the cars are the marque's well-known 3cyl petrols (68bhp, 75bhp, 82bhp) and 4cyl diesels (75bhp, 82bhp, 100bhp) - and there will be a new automatic gearbox.
Perhaps the versions most people will look to are those with PureTech 3cyl petrol engines though the diesels are well liked too.
There are three trim levels - Touch, Feel and Flair - and we have the details.
The €15,490 Touch spec includes auto air con, cruise control, lane departure warning, coffee-break alert, Bluetooth.
'Feel' spec (from €16,990) adds 16ins alloys, LED daytime running lights, Mirror Screen with Apple Car Play and 7ins touchscreen.
With this trim they are saying buyers can get a free Style Pack worth €500 which adds the eye-catching Airbump and Bi-Tone roof as well as other body colour touches. For example door mirrors match roof colour, as do the foglight surrounds.
Range-topping Flair (from €18,990) adds black airbumps, 17ins alloys, auto lights/wipers, rear parking sensors and reversing camera. There is also ConnectedCAM Citroen which uses an integrated camera (behind the rear view mirror) that captures images and video you can share on social media - or as evidence in an accident.
