Toyota have high hopes for Yaris hybrid as demand grows

TOYOTA here say they expect a lot of interest in their revised Yaris supermini - and especially in the hybrid version.
The latter currently accounts for 12pc, or nearly one-in-eight, of the model's sales here.
The hybrid's drivetrain has been revised and emissions are now down to 75g/km, putting the car in the €170 road tax bracket.
Fuel consumption has been reduced to a claimed 3.3/100km - that's a significant 85.3mpg.
Prices for entry-level petrol models remain unchanged and start at €14,995.
Pricing for the hybrid versions will be confirmed shortly by the company here.
While Toyota have managed to reduce emissions and consumption and hold pricing, they have not, as was previously reported, cut the car's weight by 20kg.
