The shape of things to come from Volkswagen as they unveil 'missing link' coupe concept

VOLKSWAGEN has revealed what it effectively claims is its 'missing link'.
The new plug-in hybrid concept, the C Coupe GTE, is being displayed at the Shanghai motor show.
And it is claimed to preview the looks and technologies of future large saloons.
The five-metre-long coupe will sell in China from the end of next year as a bridge between the larger Phaeton and the Passat.
Volkswagen say it is now "the missing step" between those models.
The 4dr will, Volkswagen say, herald much of the new design approach for the brand's future saloons.
The plug-in hybrid drive system is interesting too.
It has a 4cyl turbocharged petrol direct-injection engine (TSI), an 8spd automatic gearbox, an electric motor in the gearbox module and a lithium-ion battery.
The engine produces 210bhp and the electric motor 124bhp.
No doubt we'll hear a lot more about that too.
