PEUGEOT's 308 R Hybrid concept, shown at Shanghai, is described as a production car of the future. With a combined 500bhp from its 1.6-litre petrol engine (267bhp) and two electric motors, it is alarmingly quick (0-100kmh in 4.0 seconds) but has emissions of only 70g/km.
Power goes to all wheels (track 80mm wider) in four modes. Despite all that, the cabin is familiar though there are four individual sport seats and soft-touch fabric on the dashboard.
And yes, it still has the small steering wheel.
