Students are not getting jobs because they can't drive or haven't got a licence, a survey shows.
At a time when many young people are looking for part-time jobs, a survey by Enterprise Rent-a-car, in conjunction with Grad Ireland, found 52pc of work offers necessitated a full driving licence.
More than 1,500 young people took part in the survey - fifth, sixth year, third level and recent graduates. Two-in-five said not being able to drive greatly diminished their job opportunities.
Most students (85pc) feel there should be far more emphasis placed on learning to drive in secondary schools and universities.
