How we're upgrading our cars like never before
GONE are the days of buying your bog-basic car, it would appear.
Every carmaker has an 'entry-level' model but a majority now say they sell few of them. Most buyers seek mid-ranking and higher spec and trim. Peugeot recently attested to that.
And Skoda tell us there has been a big move to their top-level Style spec on the new Superb. There was always a good number of buyers who wanted that sort of kit on the car but the carmaker says there has been a marked increase in it now.
And then there is the Volkswagen Passat; 60pc are now bought in the top Highline trim.
It goes even higher on Passats registered for PCP deals where 70pc are Highline.
We are certainly getting fond of our luxury.
