First look at SEAT's brand new SUV: the Ateca
The Irish Independent was among the privileged few who were invited to Barcelona for an exclusive first-look at SEAT's brand new SUV, the Ateca.
In Ireland, we might more readily identify the car as a "crossover".
Call it what you will, the Ateca will lock horns with longer established rivals such as the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson, to name a few.
As the latest entrant to a rapidly growing segment, the Ateca has a lot to live up to; and on the face of things, the Spanish brand has delivered an attractive offering.
Ateca borrows its name from a Spanish town and follows the brands's traditions of being named after beautiful Spanish cities (Ibiza and Leon as examples).
Cynics might argue that it is a little late to the party but the saying "better late than never" is eminently applicable in this case.
And since when was more choice a bad thing?
In the metal, the Ateca is handsome and quite upmarket. The whole SEAT range has been heavily renovated recently and the brand is clearly carving out a signature style.
And the Ateca is no different.
