Bus system cuts cyclist accident risk

Volvo will soon roll out a system to cut the risk of pedestrians and cyclists being involved in accidents with buses. The driver-assist programme for buses uses a camera mounted outside to detect potential collisions.
If an accident is likely the system projects lights and alarms into the cabin. The potential victim is also alerted when the bus's horn automatically blares.
It is to be fitted to new buses from early next year.
