Ford put more zeST into their hot-hatch Focus
FORD have given their Focus ST a lift in energy, handling and looks.
With its extra chassis control technologies and revised suspension and steering, it gets here early next year but there's no word on prices.
For the first time you can choose a diesel as well as a sprightly petrol.
The 2-litre diesel manages 185bhp and a 0-100kmh in 8.1 seconds which is hardly enthralling for a performance car.
The attraction here lies in the amount of pull it has between gears: in sixth, for example, it goes from 80kmh to 120kmh in 9.7 seconds.
The 250bhp petrol hits 100kmh in 6.5 seconds. That's a bit more like it.
Both versions have Start/Stop for the first time.
The sports suspension now has new front springs and shock absorber tuning at front and back.
A six-speed manual transmission is standard.
They have also restyled the looks: sculpted bonnet; slimmer headlamps and rectangular fog lamps.
The sports bodykit has coloured side skirts and a rear roof spoiler as well as twin-hexagonal centre tailpipes.
Recaro seats and sports steering wheel are standard.
There is also a wagon version. There will be ST1, ST2 and ST3 trim levels.
The improved SYNC 2 connectivity system gives you audio, navigation, climate control and mobile phone access with voice control and an 8ins colour touchscreen.
