The Lovely Girls competition may have been an annual event in Craggy Island but one Irish shop has launched a ‘Lovely Legs’ competition inspired by the hit comedy.
East River, a shop in the North Kerry town of Listowel has urged ladies to upload photographs of their pins to the business’ Facebook page for a chance to win a year’s supply of tights.
Ladies of Listowel have been sending in snaps of their pins in their dozens for a chance to win the loot, which includes an €100 voucher for the store and enough Pretty Polly tights to see out 2016.
Much like Lovely Girls competition, judged by Fr Ted on the hit comedy, East River’s owner Pat Lyon revealed that the competition is being run with tongue firmly in cheek.
"A regular customer was purchasing tights in the shop and she was having a laugh with me," said Pat.
"She told me I had a great view for the morning with the picture on the package of the tights in front of me. So I said, 'Let's upload a picture of yours!'
"We've had a lot of male entries too so we may have to hold a separate competition."
Those confident of their pins are encouraged to enter the competition before Valentine’s Day which is when the winner of Listowel’s Loveliest Legs will be crowned by Radio Kerry presenter Andrew Morrissey.
