A new Irish venture thrilled Dublin movie lovers this week with the announcement that a hot-tub cinema will pop up in the city centre in August.
Cult film club CineBros will kit out a Montague Street venue with inflatable hot-tubs where ticket-holders will ‘chill-out’ as they indulge in classic films on the big screen.
CineBros’ Matthew Mantalvanos revealed that events company is trying to transform the cinema experience into “something special and different”.
“We’ll have a unit just off St. Stephen’s Green with 25 hot-tubs, cult films and afterwards we’ll have great live music. It’s a BYOB event and will just bring a new experience to Dublin,” said Mr Mantalvanos.
“For this event, we took inspiration from similar events in the UK and hope to move quite quickly to hold events like this around Ireland,” he said.
Although hot-tubs are notorious harbourers of bacteria, Mr Mantalvanos revealed that Dublin cinema go-ers do not need to worry too much about other ticket holders peeing in the pool.
“We’ll be changing the water every night after every event and there will be light chemicals in the water like in swimming pools. We’re going to be strict about it because we don’t want anything to put a negative spin on the events,” he said.
The hot-tub cinema, which will be held indoors, will be showing a wide range of cult and classic films throughout the month of August including Wayne’s World, West Side Story and Pulp Fiction.
Tickets to the event will cost €20 and the first event will kick off on August 1.
