Stratford Lodge might sound like a traditional, solid kind of a name for a large detached property, but when you pass through its original block granite walls via secure gates and cobble-locked courtyard you could be forgiven for thinking you've been transported to Google's headquarters.

Lime green garden walls (replete with a life size ceramic cow gazing at you), orange bubble chairs, Perspex and gloss white furniture along with jungle-themed wallpaper mean this four-bed house on leafy Orwell Road certainly gets the eyes popping.

Above all, it looks like great fun but anyone who prefers olde worlde mahogany and chintz or a modern Ikea look needn't worry as the property can come unfurnished. "It's certainly one of a kind and a bit surprising inside," says agent Sean Bonner.

With four double bedrooms he expects this to be a corporate let for a family. I think it might also be suitable for a local who wants to escape re-building in their current home for a while.

The 1,948 sq ft of space has been divided into a range of living areas on the ground floor.

With the large high-ceilinged hall in the centre of this double-fronted property, there is a drawing room to the left and a large kitchen/dining room to the right. This features a modern, bright white kitchen with breakfast bar, Silestone worktops and a full range of Siemens appliances. Off this is a utility room with laundry machinery. The dining area has a garden room off it with a wood-burning stove.

The drawing room has solid wood flooring and a limestone fireplace which has an inset wood-burning stove also and its dual aspect provides plenty of light. Upstairs are the four double bedrooms, two of which are ensuite. The family bathroom is here too.

There is secure parking for three vehicles to the front (which is cobble-locked) while the south-westerly facing garden has granite patios and an astro-turf lawn (where the cow won't chew the cud!).

Orwell Road intersects Dartry and Orwell parks with the Dodder river flowing through them. This makes it ideal for families and there are plenty of schools, shops and other amenities. To the east is Milltown Golf Course, and Nutgrove and Dundrum shopping centres are equidistant at 4km.
