You might feel like you're living in a lighthouse at this two-storey top-floor penthouse apartment on South Lotts Road at the Shelbourne Park development, near the eponymous race track.

Walls are curved, allowing for 360 degree views of the rounded curves of the nearby landmark Gasworks building and the glass undulation of the roof of the Aviva Stadium, which is front and centre of the living room windows.

The loft type open-plan space measures 1,600 sq ft in total.

The circular shape is further enhanced by curved interior walls and floor to ceiling windows which encircle the open-plan sitting room area.

If that's not enough, the theme continues with a spiral staircase linking the two floors, with the large seating/dining area on a mezzanine-type open space on the upper level and the living accommodation on the lower portion.

Outside, there's a wrap-around terrace (yep - curved), which has a barbecue area. Thankfully, none of it is spinning.

Inside, the contemporary kitchen has hi-gloss white cupboards, a full range of integrated appliances including a wine cooler.

There is a large centre island housing a hob and breakfast bar. This has a utility room off it. Down the hallway are the three double bedrooms, one ensuite and a main bathroom.

Floors are polished wood throughout and the decor is 'funky' - plenty of primary colour splashes and modern furnishings. It might well appeal to workers in the nearby Google HQ as a home from home to their colourful offices.

Although this approach will certainly be attractive to urbane professionals, the landlord has given an option of providing it unfurnished if this is preferred.

Agent Kevin Walsh, who specialises in overseas corporate clients looking for Dublin properties, says he sees this unit being let to a company possibly for visiting executives.

"It's not really a family let, but it would definitely suit a corporate and the location is ideal," he said.

The Grand Canal Dock train station is a few minutes' walk at 500m, there are several Dublin Bikes stands nearby and a range of bus services. If all else fails, there's surfing at the Surf Dock school!
