Room for all the family in Kildare
Pipers Hill, Naas, Co Kildare and Hawthorn Gate, Celbridge, Co Kildare
North Kildare has re-emerged after the downturn as a target destination for builders catering to the growing numbers of urban dwellers seeking extra space for their expanding families along the commuter belt.
In Naas, Sean Mulryan's Ballymore Group is launching the final phase of Piper's Hill (above) this weekend. The development is located about half a mile outside the canal-side town, near the Victorian manor hotel Kilashee House.
There are 18 houses available in this last tranche, which is made up of four-bed semi-detached and detached homes and the final five-bed detached property. Sizes range from 1,744 sq ft to 2,710 sq ft, while the asking prices go from €380,000 to €565,000 for the five-bed.
The A-rated homes are near the Whitewater Shopping Centre, Kildare Village, Punchestown and The Curragh racecourses. Dublin City centre is about a 50 minute drive away, traffic permitting, while Newbridge is a 15 minute drive.
Piper's Hill is on a bus route that serves local towns, while commuters to Dublin can also use the rail service from nearby Sallins.
In Celbridge, meanwhile, Bourke Builders have released a contemporary-style new development on the Maynooth Road called Hawthorn Gate (below). There is plenty of history on the doorstep of Hawthorn Gate - the old stone walls for the nearby Castletown House estate, built from 1722 for William Conolly, who was Speaker of the Irish House of Commons, form part of the boundary walls of the new scheme. Indeed, a large number of the houses at Hawthorn Gate include the old Castletown Demesne walls as part of their garden.
The development, which is set back from the main road, contains 26 properties, however, only seven are still available as the remainder have been reserved by buyers.
Of the seven homes, one is a two-bed mid-terraced home with an east-facing garden. It has 861 sq ft of space and is priced from €270,000.
There are also four four-bed semi-detached properties available, with 1,399 sq ft of accommodation and a prices starting at €390,000. In addition, there are two of the larger five-bed detached styles for sale - these are laid out over 1,657 sq ft and cost from €550,000.
Viewings at Pipers Hill and Hawthorn Gate will take place tomorrow and Sunday, from 2pm-4pm.
