New home view: Coastal living in Dublin city
Showhouse now for sale with views of Dublin Bay and within walking distance of St Anne’s Park
When Lonsdale was launched on May 11, the high-end development on the Howth Road - near St Anne's Park, the coastal cycleway and Bull Island - sold out within three hours.
While 15 four- and five-bed homes went off the market in record time, the scheme's 16th property, the showhouse, is now for sale. The three-storey house sits on the front row of Lonsdale, so its master bedroom on the top floor commands views across Dublin Bay
Lonsdale, an infill development at 726-728 Howth Road, is officially in the townland of Blackbanks but is within walking distance of Raheny village. It was built by Clontarf-based MKN Property Group, the developer behind recent Clontarf schemes such as Churchfield and Seascape.
MKN acquired a property, Haremount, at 726 Howth Road in 2007 and bought Lonsdale, a neighbouring old house, in 2014 at a knock-down price. It then combined the land to create Lonsdale.
At the Lonsdale showhouse, an electric gate with an intercom system leads to a stone pebble driveway and landscaped front garden. The façade of No. 1 Lonsdale is finished in a combination of render and Village Sunglow clay brick. There is also zinc cladding between the first floor and ground-floor bay windows, as well as granite to the sills of the triple-glazed Rational windows. To the rear is a private garden and granite-paved patio with storage shed.
Inside, the 2,077 sq ft property has five bedrooms, two of which are ensuite. The €890,000 price tag includes integrated appliances, carpets and wood flooring. The showhouse was styled by Niamh McKeon, the MKN director responsible for interior design.
On the ground floor, a hallway leads to a formal living room with a Turkish limestone fireplace and Wanders gas fire, all from Dublin-based Lamartine. Double doors connect the living room to a large kitchen/dining/family room flooded with light from a bank of long windows that encompasses a set of French doors to the garden and from rooflights. On the first floor are four bedrooms (one ensuite) and a family bathroom. The master bedroom on the second floor is also ensuite.
The fitted kitchen is contemporary in style and comes from Kube's Leicht range. It features Siemens appliances and a breakfast bar at the island unit.
At the A2-rated house, the central heating is supplied by an energy- efficient condensing gas boiler while solar panels heat the domestic water.
Viewings of the Lonsdale showhouse are by appointment.
