First-time buyers head to Dublin 15

Dublin 15 is attracting a lion's share of new residential estates, being one of the few postcodes in the capital where developers can afford to build homes priced with first-time buyers in mind.

Both Hansfield Wood near Ongar and Castlegrange in Castaheany, which have new phases being released this weekend, are within walking distance of Hansfield Train Station.

More than 130 homes at Hansfield Wood have been sold since it was first launched in September. The estate will consist of 170 houses and 36 apartments when completed.

The latest phase will have 18 three-bed and four-bed homes. There are three-bed terraced types measuring 1,184 sq ft and costing from €295,000, while the semi-detached version spans 1,281 sq ft and is priced from €325,000. The four-bed semi-detached properties in this batch have 1,448 sq ft of space and cost from €380,000.

Meanwhile, the final phase of 10 houses at Castlegrange (below) is coming to the market this weekend. These three-bed semi-detached homes can accommodate a future attic conversion and measure 1,226 sq ft.

Prices start at €320,000 for the units with a parking bay and climb to €330,000 for those with a driveway out front. The developer is also selling the showhouse, styled by Helen Turkington, for €360,000.

The showhomes at Hansfield Wood and Castlegrange will be open for viewing from 2pm-4pm tomorrow and Sunday.
