The design feature du jour of south Dublin mid-market developments is a master ensuite with walk-in wardrobes on the top floor of a three-storey terraced or semi-detached home. Sometimes, these master bedrooms can feel like a cramped after-thought, but not at Woodbank in Shankill, where the master ensuite is the star of the show.

Not only does the master bedroom have large walk-in wardrobes, it comes with a separate dressing room and double doors that lead out on to a large balcony. A multitude of outdoor features at Woodbank is indicative of how well the architects set out to make the most of the development's backdrop: the scheme is located down a rustic old road, 500m outside the fashionable village of Shankill, with Rathmichael immediately west of the new estate.

Woodbank is surrounded by the Dublin Mountains and is within walking distance from the coastline stretch from Shankill to Killiney Beach. A short drive away from Woodbank is the Powerscourt estate, home to Ireland's highest waterfall, Glendalough, and the Glen of the Downs.

The rear gardens at Woodbank have large patio areas, grass and tree planting, with double doors leading out from the kitchen/dining/lounge area, and large windows throughout each of the houses maximise the natural light.

Built by Ravenshall Developments, this enclave of 18 apartments and duplexes - all of which have sold out - and 40 four-bed houses was first launched a year ago and has now reached its final phase. There are just six houses being released in this tranche, with a brand new showhouse launching them this weekend. Prices start at €550,000 for a terraced four-bed with 1,668 sq ft of space and at €600,000 for a semi-detached version that spans 1,752 sq ft.

In the semi-detached style, the kitchen/diner is L-shaped, with a lounge space occupying one corner, while the layout in the terraced style is square-shaped. Also on this level is a guest WC, a utility room and a front living room. The latter will be fitted with a wall-mounted Dimplex SP16 flame-effect fire once a house sale has been completed.

On the first floor are three bedrooms, one of which is ensuite, and a main bathroom, with the entire second floor taken up by the aforementioned master bedroom.

The finishes in the kitchens include painted shaker-style doors, quartz counters, and a modern breakfast bar for quick meals on the go. The kitchens come with AEG appliances if contracts are signed and returned within 28 days.

Each bedroom has fitted wardrobes with painted shaker-style doors and polished chrome handles.

Ceramic tiles are fitted to the kitchens, utility rooms and ground floor of the guest toilet. The houses also have a useful feature in the form of pull-out storage under the stairs.

The tiled bathrooms and ensuites have a Kohler bath and wall-hung porcelain fittings. The master ensuite has a vaulted ceiling and skylight over a Mira electronic shower in a wet-room style that can be controlled remotely.

All the houses were designed to have an A3 BER. They are equipped with PV solar panels, which are connected directly to the electrical supply system to top up electricity and reduce household energy costs.

Woodbank is a two-minute drive to the M50, but prospective residents weary of dealing with the motorway's traffic can avail of the Dart station at Shankill, which is 1km away, or the Cherrywood Luas stop, which is a few minutes away. The stop for the 145 bus route is just outside the gate to Woodbank and benefits from the quality bus corridor into the city centre and Heuston Station.

Viewings at Woodbank will be held between 12pm-2pm tomorrow and Sunday.
