Luscious greens of Brittas Bay

The record-holder at the European Club golf links at Brittas Bay, Co Wicklow, is none other than Tiger Woods, with a score of 67.
If you fancy your chances at trying to beat that course record - for what would golf be without hubris? - then you'd better set up a base in the locality and start getting some practice in.
This five-bedroom detached house is in the nearby townland of Ballytunny, about two-and-a-half kilometres from the club. It has over 12 acres of its own land and no neighbours, so it could be the perfect spot for correcting your slice.
The house was built in 2005 by its current owners, who clearly didn't want to be short of space indoors either.
They made it 3,790 sq ft and that's all on one floor; you could keep fit by just walking around it.
Four of the five bedrooms are at one end of the house, to the left of the entrance hall, and three of these are en-suite. There's also a small study in this area, while the fifth bedroom, also en-suite, is just off the hall itself.
The other end of the house is devoted to living areas - principally a huge, open-plan kitchen and dining room, with an Aga at one end and an inglenook fireplace at the other. This room has a bay window and two sets of doors to the gardens.
At one end of this room there's a utility room and extra toilet, and at the other end is the lounge, where there's a pitch pine floor and a wood-burning stove.
The gardens include terraces taking advantage of southern and western sunlight and views, surrounded by large lawns with ornamental shrubs. The 12.32 acres are pastureland and there are also some old barns.
The agent is Ganly Walters (01) 662 3255 and the asking price is €825,000.
