Thousands of people flocked to Dublin’s RDS this weekend to soak up interior inspiration at the inaugural house 2016, and those seeking some creative ideas ahead of a bathroom do-up weren’t left wanting.
The interiors and homes event boast dozens of bathroom specialists and snazzy show bathrooms including those from Armani are also on display at the event.
Speaking of this year’s bathroom trends, Joanne Langton, Marketing Manager of Laufen revealed that people are focusing on clever storage as a priority in 2016.
“In 2016 it’s more about furniture. People are looking for ways they can store in the bathrooms rather than just the washbasins themselves. There’s a bit more of a focus on accessories, like those we have on display today at house 2016,” she said.
Lankton also revealed that fittings are also straying away from traditional and expected brass ware and venturing into silvers, golds and coppers.
“With regards to colour, brass ware is straying away from the normal brass ware colours and moving more towards copper, silver and golds,” she said.
Mark McDonough, Founder of Victorian Salvage and Joinery Company, revealed that free standing, restored pieces are becoming more common place in Irish bathrooms, and high level cisterns and cast iron baths are as popular as ever.
“In our showroom today we’ve taken an original free-standing wash stand and restored it, and upscaled it with new taps and new basins.
“Storage is also very important in 2016, and more and more people are considering that when they plan their bathroom. Marble has always been popular and it’s kind of come to the forefront again this year,” he said.
