Win your mortgage paid for a year
Size counts according to a new survey by property website Globrix.ie. The number of bedrooms a property has is the first search criteria used by house hunters on Globrix.ie, surpassing even price.
The survey was published to mark the launch of a nationwide competition offering one home owner or house hunter the chance to have their mortgage paid for one full year, to the value of €12,000. To enter you simply need to collect seven tokens available in the Irish Independent and Sunday Independent.
One token appears each dayuntil September18 and today's appears on page two of the main paper . Entry forms are available online and readers can enter as often as they like.
According to the latest Globrix survey three-bedroom properties are the most sought after by home buyers who search through Globrix. For house hunters in Cork a sea view rates highest on their list of priorities. In Galway, landscape gardens are the most searched for property feature. In Kilkenny, space is the ultimate attraction with the most searched for property being a four-bedroom house.
Explaining one of the reasons for the mortgage holiday competition, Globrix marketing manager Aisling Nagle said: "Recent figures from the Financial Regulator show the extent of the financial constraints families are under with the number of home owners in mortgage arrears increasing by almost 40pc since September 2009 from 26,000 to 36,000. With the financial pressures that many households are experiencing, the opportunity to take a break from mortgage repayments for one full year, to the value of €12,000, could make a significant difference to one struggling household and we are pleased to be able to offer this prize."
