Wicklow house prices: Detached house majority in Garden county

Apartment prices have experienced a considerable drop from peak levels, falling by 48pc for one-bedroom units and more than 46pc for two-bedroom units.

A three-bedroom semi-detached in Wicklow now averages €273,000 for a second-hand which is less than the €303,000 for a new one-bedroom apartment at the peak of the market.



Agents in Wicklow expressed different views on the stock of properties for sale on the market and the level of sales activity, although again it was positive that no agents cited a decrease in sales activity.

The time-to-sell at 21 weeks is the same as that for Meath, but still higher than experienced in Kildare.

According to one local agent, the market is now beginning to see pre-Celtic Tiger prices and that sales are happening on properties priced at or below €350,000.

At the same time, the agent stressed that prices needed to be realistic

The east coast of Wicklow is heavily urbanised and detached houses account for 54pc of housing stock, semi-detached for 29pc and terraced houses for 16pc.

Owner-occupancy rates are above the national average at 76pc.

An estimated 2.6pc of the existing housing stock is currently up for sale, which is slightly higher than the rate recorded for Kildare and Meath.
