Towering above the rest in Lusk for €400k

The north Dublin village of Lusk has among its various curiosities an 88ft round tower, apparently more or less intact.
Round towers are a far from unusual sight in the Irish landscape, but what sets this one apart is that a medieval belfry has been built up against it, the belfry having three corner turrets and the much older round tower making up the fourth.
And to the 15th century belfry has been added a 19th century church.
The whole makes for an intriguing spectacle, and it's one that can be enjoyed in perfect leisure from the windows of 'Iona', a detached Victorian house less than 200 metres away down Ministers Road.
Built in the 19th century, Iona has been renovated and finished by an interior designer, keeping intact the many period features such as tiled floors, fireplaces, and sash windows.
It's 2,497 sq ft in size, with three bedrooms on the first floor, two of them with original fireplaces and handy views of the round tower. Also on the first floor there's a new wet room with a tropical shower.
Back on the ground floor there are two main reception rooms either side of the entrance hall. Both are dual-aspect and pleasantly square and both have original fireplaces, and off the main reception room there's a sunroom overlooking the back garden.
The kitchen is at the back of the house and is fully fitted with high-end cabinets and stone countertops, and at just under 17ft by 12ft there's plenty of space for a breakfast table.
Out the front is a gated entrance leading to a gravelled parking area, and there's a well-planned garden out the back with a patio, ponds, a lawn, ornamental trees and shrubs.
Iona is for sale for €400,000 with Sherry FitzGerald Blanc in Swords (01) 890 0944.
