The folk at those tech multi-nationals and banks, one which we spend enormous amounts of time and money (and tax breaks) recruiting to our shores and then keeping here, often give out about the lack of appropriate accommodation for their high-tech, high-income employees.

We're told some have had to resort to flat sharing, sofa surfing and even living in hotels, such is the scarcity of properties, even at the upper end of the scale.

Well this three-bedroom penthouse apartment at Hanover Dock should tick the boxes.

Located only a 700m stroll from the American internet giant Google and a couple of minutes from the Bord Gais Energy Theatre (with its increasingly popular square of restaurants and bars), Grand Canal dock and, across the river, the IFSC and National Convention Centre, it is spacious enough at 1,345 sq ft for at least a couple of techies.

Other local employers include HSBC, State Street and MOP Solicitors.

It is definitely designed with the executive in mind with contemporary and clean lines to the forefront, an open plan living area in polished Juncker wood flooring surrounded by white walls.

There is a super private roof garden which is decked, paved and has raised beds and plenty of shrubbery along with an al fresco dining area measuring a hefty 785 sq ft, making it effectively an outdoor extension.

West facing, it will get the sun all day long too and the main living area is dual aspect, with floor to ceiling windows (and double doors to access the terrace), making the most of the light.

This is a duplex, on the sixth and seventh floors, and there are three bedrooms within, all doubles with one ensuite and a separate bathroom, fully tiled.

The rest of the living area includes a smart but small Siematic galley style kitchen in white and grey with marble worktops and stainless steel appliances, the living and dining area, which has seating for six and a tiled hall with inset bookcases. There is secure underground parking, plenty of storage areas and underfloor heating.

The apartment comes furnished in a non-offensive executive style with plenty of leather, colour accented rugs and cushions, and contemporary finishes.

While the lease is for one year (previous tenants have included CEOs and single executives looking for space), the landlord is happy to discuss a longer term arrangement.

LEASE: One year.
