Top let: Grand designs on the property market
Mount street, dublin 2 Rent: €4,500 per month

We may still have the oddest-shaped property market in Europe, but one tenet forever holds true - location, location, location.
This two-bed apartment on Dublin's Mount Street is bang in the centre, not only of town, but within a stroll of the canal banks, hip restaurants and the capital's main shopping areas.
It is sure to appeal to the executive type and has been kitted out with him or her in mind.
Understated, expensive and graceful, this well-dressed apartment will appeal as much to the genteel aesthete as to the harried boss following a hard day at the office.
These tall terraced buildings on Mount Street are from the Georgian period - residences of the 18th century's newly emerging middle-class gentlemen's families. They are mostly refurbished brown brick townhouses with original panelled front doors, Doric pillars, sash windows and fanlights still intact in most cases.
Number 18-21, which has been extensively modernised from the inside out to the rear, is the development where the apartment is housed. Careful and tasteful restoration is evident as you enter the lobby. The building hasn't lost any of its grandeur throughout its long life, with high ceilings, original fireplaces and polished floors all retained.
This apartment measures 1,614 sq ft, which is large for a two-bed. You enter into a very long hall, with a galley-style kitchen off this, with limed walnut units and a full range of Miele appliances.
There is a small utility room and an open-plan sitting/dining room with twin sash full-size windows.
Through an archway off the kitchen is a study, two double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite with a walk-in wardrobe, and a separate bathroom. Both have been fitted with Villeroy & Boch sanitary ware. A south-west facing balcony is accessed off the main bedroom, leading via double doors to a patio area.
There is underfloor heating and a designated car space, which would be essential given the zeal with which street parking is policed in this part of town. A rear private courtyard for residents has been laid out with paving, gravel, shrubbery and seating areas.
