This two-bedroom apartment is one of 10 in this substantial converted fine Victorian property. And the term, in this case, is used literally as Queen Victoria herself once had afternoon tea in this former Viceregal lodge during her visit to Dublin in April 1900, amid much pomp and ceremony, hosted by William and Georgia Duckett, en route from Kingstown (now Dun Laoghaire).

Whether or not it was in one of the elegant reception rooms the new tenant will inhabit can't be confirmed, but it could certainly occupy their mind as s/he looks out over the landscaped gardens sipping a cup of lapsang souchong.

The red-brick double fronted house features cut-stone inset detailing, iron balustrades and, with the hubris of the era, two fine turreted gables.

Many interior original features have been retained, including high ceilings, feature cornicing and architraves, fire places, dado rails and polished wooden floors. Interior doors are glass-panelled, enabling light penetration.

This is a first letting and is available from this week. Accommodation is spacious, with a feature entrance hall leading into an (unfurnished) reception/dining suite of rooms which could be used for corporate entertaining or a home office.

There is a separate living room with original fireplace and tri-panelled bay windows in the curved turret. This has a dining table in the round space with seating areas nearby.

There is a kitchen/dining/living room with a full set of appliances including washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, oven and hob.

There are two double bedrooms both with ensuite facilities, and a guest wc in the entrance hall. The house comes with one designated parking space but there is ample visitor parking and communal gardens.

The agent, Mandy Meredith, for Sherry FitzGerald Lettings says it is one of the finest apartments to come to the letting market in recent times. "It is very special and we are looking for someone to whom the historical elegance appeals, but who doesn't need to worry about the maintenance and upkeep of such a property.

"It will most likely be a professional couple or a corporate let, especially given its location within the embassy belt and its equi-distance to both Donnybrook and Ballsbridge."

The property is fully furnished, save for the adjoining reception rooms mentioned and Raglan Court is a 500m walk from Herbert Park, with the Aviva stadium under 1km.

LEASE: Minimum six months
