The recent re-opening of the Gore-Booth family seat at Lissadell after a contracted legal battle between Sligo Council and the Walsh/Cassidy family, has brought the spotlight back on this Irish heritage.

Casscon Limited is the builder responsible for the development at Lissadell Park which takes its name and location from the famous landmark. The demesne is 5km from this estate.

There are eight four-bedroom houses remaining in the development, six semi-detached and two end-of-terraces. At 1,378 sq ft they comprise an L-shaped kitchen/dining room, a separate sitting room and a WC downstairs. Upstairs has the four bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, and a family bathroom. There is an allowance of €6,000 to cover tiling, painting etc. The end of terraces are being sold at €110,000 while the semi-detached properties are €115,000.

Casscon was also responsible for the Dorrins Strand development in Sligo. The village of Carney is 9.3km from Sligo town while the airport is 19km away. The County Sligo golf links and beaches at Rosses Point are 12km.

Cork lawn movers rolling

LOCATION: THE LAWN, MOUNTMASSEY, MACROOM, CO CORK

Four homes remain from this development of 28 at The Lawn in Mountmassey which is just over one kilometre from Macroom village in Co Cork.

The houses are of the 'B' style, 1,578 sq ft in size and are on offer at €220,000. With a timber frame and part stone exterior these Muscrai Construction developed properties are located in the grounds of the now ruined Mountmassey House and the shell of the stately home can be seen from the houses which also have views of the extended countryside.

A battle for Goose Green

The latest phase of the Goose Green Court development to launch, faces on to Grace Park Road in Dublin 9. Good demand is expected for numbers 12 - 19 which are A-rated four bedroom semi-detached homes built by PG Homes. The developer was responsible for The Belfry in Walkinstown which recently featured on these pages.

They are finished in a red-brick style with a lawn and gravel driveway and space for two vehicles. Back gardens are lawned. They measure 1,400 sq ft and will be priced at €465,000.

The downstairs has a hall leading to a kitchen, living room and dining room. There is a guest WC here too. The kitchen features 'Legno' raised Massello panel soft-close units and Lapado marble gloss and matt tiling. Upstairs are the four bedrooms, one en-suite and the family bathroom. Stand down St Margaret's

An old period house at Corrstown has been refurbished and developed into four apartments with an additional five mews houses constructed, all of which are being sold on the instructions of receiver Kavanagh Fennell in separate lots.

Passive power in the south east

Energy efficiency is the word at the Grange Lough development in Enniscorthy.

These eight detached homes built by Michael Bennett & Sons Construction, comprise the first fully certified passive house development in Ireland.

 Features which may become the norm in the future include insulated walls over 0.5m thick, providing draught free interiors; triple glazed windows and a wood burning stove which is so efficient it doesn't produce any ash. Grange Lough is near Rosslare's well-known amenities: the Strand is 1km, Kelly's Resort Hotel is 1.3km and the railway station is a 700m walk from the development.

Pull up in Stocking sales
