Surveyors' dinner raises €10k for GOAL

Almost 900 people attended one of the few remaining property dinner events of the year when the Society of Chartered Surveyors hosted their annual dinner at the Burlington Hotel last week. Following the downturn in the property and construction sectors, other organisations such as the Irish Home Builders Association and the promoters of the Irish property awards cancelled their annual dinners.

Not surprisingly the SCS was concerned that it would need to attract 500 paying guests to cover its costs. However the turnout meant that not alone did it exceed its target but its guests also raised €10,000 for the GOAL overseas aid charity to support victims of the Haiti earthquake.

GOAL CEO John O'Shea has expressed his gratitude to the SCS and assured them that the money would be used to support GOAL's relief and rehabilitation efforts in Haiti. "It is a tragedy of epic proportions so it is important that all of us who can help do so," added Mr O'Shea.
