The latest batch of family homes at Barnageeragh Cove, a development overlooking the sea in Skerries, is aptly named - the phase is called Guillemot, after the seabird that nests on cliff ledges around the Irish coast.

More than 60 homes have been sold at Barnageeragh Cove since the start of this year in phases named Heron and Sanderling. Savills took over as a joint selling agent with REA Grimes in September and there is a relaunch this weekend of 18 properties selling off the plans at the scheme.

Following the sell-out of the previous two phases, the agents are releasing a plethora of house styles in the latest tranche, including three-bed terraced, end-of-terrace and semi-detached dwellings, as well as four-bed semi-detached houses.

Barnageeragh Cove is being developed by Winsac, which is run by Bernie Carroll and Malachy Clarke, and has a track record in the Skerries residential market, having built the nearby Kelly's Bay scheme.

The north Dublin town is growing in popularity among families, who are attracted by its proximity to motorway networks, the airport, Dublin city and the beach. It also doesn't hurt that Skerries won the Tidy Towns in September for the first time in the competition's 58-year history.

The contemporary-style houses at Barnageeragh Cove are nestled on an elevated site that slopes down to the waterfront and is interspersed with hard and soft landscaping, seating areas, a playground and winding pathways. The exteriors have a contemporary cream render finish, and a dark grey window trim and front door. To the front is a lawn and a paved driveway with parking for two cars.

The properties, which are about 34km from the centre of the city, were designed by Fitzgerald Kavanagh & Associates Architects to have floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of the views of the surrounding area.

Prices at Barnageeragh Cove start at €300,000 for a three-bed and €390,000 for a semi-detached four-bed, with sizes ranging from 1,130 sq ft to 1,625 sq ft. The homes in the Guillemot phase will be finished by the middle of 2017. In all, there are five national schools and three second-level schools in the locality. Viewings are tomorrow and Sunday, from 2pm-4pm.
