Seaside builds for the first-time buyer

It seems buyers at Cois Farraige in the Co Louth coastal village of Blackrock truly do want to be beside the seaside - a third of the 31 units in the second phase of the development were sold within a day of being promoted online a week ago.
Work on Cois Farraige, on the corner of the Rock Road and Old Golf Links Road, first began in 2008. The newest phase comprises eight two-bed apartments and four-bed houses available in three types, namely end-of-terrace, mid-terrace and three-storey semi- detached.
After the second phase at the scheme was publicised online and through social networking sites such as Facebook, 10 were immediately snapped up. The selling agent expects the latest release to sell out by the end of the June bank holiday weekend.
No doubt the biggest draw for purchasers, especially first-time buyers, is the value offered at Cois Farraige: prices start at €115,000 for the 800 sq ft apartments, while the houses cost from €215,000 for a 1,350 sq ft mid-terrace and go up to €250,000 for a semi- detached property.
The homes were built by McCaughey Developments Ltd using timber frame units from IJM.
The finishes include kitchen units, sanitary ware fitted in the bathrooms and ensuites, fireplaces in the houses, paintwork and a cobble-lock driveway. Kitchen appliances are not included in the sale price.
Cois Farraige is about 5km from Dundalk along the R132, which is situated at the far end of the Old Golf Links Road and about a three-minute drive to the M1 motorway. Blackrock is about a 50 minute drive from Dublin and an hour from Belfast.
The show house at the development will be open for viewings tomorrow and Sunday, between 2pm and 4pm.
