Put your stamp on . . .

31 The Haven is a three bedroom, semi-detached home off the Dunmore Road near Waterford City.

The home is situated in this highly regarded residential development, which is convenient to shopping facilities, schools, sport and leisure amenities.

It overlooks a mature, maintained green area to the front aspect.

This week we are going to put a stamp on this perfect family living room, which comes complete with gas fireplace. Comfort is key, as are colours and patterns that will disguise the wear and tear of every day child-related life.

I start with the 'Mrs D'arcy' sofa from Littlewoods (€1,099) which comes in a style reminiscent of its namesake – a period-style piece in a sumptuous velvet.

It instantly adds elegance to a room that will still be primarily about comfort. More of aforementioned comfort is introduced with the Matthew Williamson 'Kensington' and 'Frame' cushions from Debenhams, piled high for kitsch support. Add to these the 'Ursula' knitted throw from Ikea (€21) for the perfect hibernation station.

Pouffes make great foot rests, seats or even doll beds – I particularly like the style of the 'Santos drum' from Next. At £80 sterling you could purchase two as I can almost guarantee you will use them more than you can possibly imagine (I have a few in a similar style and am now addicted).

The Anouk Jansen Mug from one of my favourite Irish stores , 'Article' in the Powerscourt Town Centre, is ideal for the relax factor.

The Kiara rug from Anthropologie.eu ties the colour scheme together and adds a certain bohemian 'I picked it up on my travels' feel to the space.

Finally, vases from House of Fraser piled high on a sideboard create a perfect vignette for this eclectic yet comfortable room.
