Ballyhennessy, Lixnaw, Co Kerry Five-bed, three-bath detached house on 0.5 acres
Located only two kilometres from Lixnaw Village and 16 kilometres from Tralee or Listowel, this property is described as offering "exceptional value for first-time buyers". Standing at approx 153sqm, and finished to a high standard, this five-bedroom, three-bathroom property encompasses a host of outstanding features.
The layout includes: a lounge; family room; kitchen; dining room; utility room; five bedrooms (one ensuite); a shower room; bathroom and detached laundry room..
Upon purchasing this house, I would start with the least expensive makeover, but one with a dramatic impact -- adding colour to the bedroom. Colour may not be my own personal quick fix; I have been called Miss Frost for my love of painting everything out in white or grey.
However, there is a compromise. Unlike the somewhat overwhelming image from the 'Next' catalogue, I've taken their base colours of blues and purples and toned them down somewhat, taking the blue tones in to a slightly more restful green territory.
Garrendenny Lane (www.garrendennylane.ie ) stock a beautiful range of wallpapers, I love the colour tones of their Tea Anyone? wallpaper by Elegantly Deviant. Decorate your newly patterned walls with the Juliette mirror from Littlewoods, and up the irony by mixing this overly old school mirror with a purple flocked antler head from Next, €58.00 (www.nextdirect.com/ie/en/).
The Dagny curtains from Ikea are not only inexpensive at €69.99 a pair, but their muted colour picks up on the wallpaper perfectly.
Anthropologie is my go-to store for inspiration. Their Ikat inspired cushions are available in the most perfectly complementary colours for this design.
I may not be able to wear Matthew Williamson clothes -- the patterns are a touch too much for my Miss Frost tendencies -- but I do enjoy using his incredible interior products for Debenhams in homes. His grey Chahna bed linen range is perfect for this room.
Finally -- don't be afraid to add colour via your furniture. Irish and London store Sweetpea and Willow, www.sweetpeaandwillow.com, is a personal favourite, and their Aqua Marine Bombe chest is an ideal addition.
