In Dylan Thomas' radio drama Under Milk Wood, the farmer spends all night counting sheep that have faces like his wife.

There are no sheep on Milkwood Farm - which is either in Sligo or Leitrim - but it is a working organic farm.

The agents give the address as Tawley, Castlegal, Co Sligo, as does An Post. The farm though, is actually just inside the Leitrim border, but only about seven kilometres from Cliffoney.

Milkwood is on 10 acres with gardens designed for both beauty and function. There's a lawn, a pond and flowerbeds for relaxation, and a greenhouse, henhouses and a vegetable garden.

As to the house, it was designed by an architect and built in 2006, replacing an existing traditional cottage. Its predecessor has been duly honoured, though, in the style of décor within.

Milkwood farmhouse is done over in a country cottage style, with flower-print wallpaper, antique furniture, wooden floors, rough plaster walls and exposed ceiling beams here and there.

The sitting room has a wooden floor and a fireplace, and there's also a flag-floored reading room. The kitchen has a chequerboard tile floor and a vaulted timber ceiling with exposed beams, and there's a white-painted centre island dividing the kitchen from the dining area.

There are three bedrooms and a bathroom, which has half-panelled walls and a free-standing claw-foot bath.

At the front of the house is an unusual covered deck, overlooking the grounds.

Milkwood Farm is close to the Donegal border, about 12km from Bundoran and Sligo town is about half an hour's drive away.

REA McElhinney in Bundoran is the agent (071) 984 1261, and the asking price is €265,000.
