On the market: Turn the otter way
Published 18/07/2014 | 02:30
TO get to the housing estate known as Otterbrook, off Wilbrook Road in Rathfarnham, Dublin, you have to cross a little bridge over the Owendoher river.
The Owendoher is a tributary of the Dodder that snakes its way towards Bushy Park. No doubt it's technically a brook, although it's unlikely there are any otters in it.
Number 16 Otterbrook is a small terraced house at the back of the estate, measuring some 689 square feet. It has a living room with gas fire and kitchen with patio doors to the back.
Upstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom, and above that is a partly-floored attic.
There's parking at the front, while the back garden has a paved limestone patio and a deck, as well as a garden shed.
Number 16 Otterbrook is on the market for €345,000 with Gunne Terenure (01 406 4500).
SECOND TO NUN
Whately Place is a modern housing development off Kilmacud Road Upper in Stillorgan, Dublin, in the grounds of St Anne's Convent.
Number 67 is a 2,422sqft end-of-terrace house with five bedrooms and three reception rooms. The ground floor has a living room, drawing room and dining room, together with a kitchen and utility and a guest toilet.
Upstairs, the main bedroom has an en-suite shower room and a walk-in wardrobe. Bedroom two also has an en-suite and a dressing room. The three other bedrooms and the main bathroom are all on this floor.
There's off-street parking at the front, and a decked and gravelled back garden.
Sherry FitzGerald Dundrum (01 296 1822) is the agent for this property.
THE OTHER BALLINTUBBER
Balintubber, Co Roscommon, is probably most famous for not being Ballintubber, Co Mayo. The latter is the site of the beautiful Ballintubber Abbey, where stars including Pierce Brosnan and Shane Filan have celebrated their weddings.
Roscommon's Ballintubber has the advantage, though, of being cheaper. Maytree Cottage, at Castleteehan, Ballintubber, is a 1,049 square-foot bungalow with a living room, kitchen, utility room, three bedrooms and a bathroom, all of which could do with being spruced up.
It's on 0.864 of an acre, including a paddock, and there are lawns front and back. Outbuildings include a stable block, tack room and hay storage area, as well as some stone-built storage sheds. Agents Property Partners Earley in Roscommon (09066 26579) is asking for offers above €48,000.
