This 19th century two-storey farmhouse is just inside Roscommon's border with Galway, and overlooks the River Suck, well-known for pike fishing. It's at the end of a cul-de-sac, so it's pleasantly secluded, and has four bedrooms, two reception rooms, a kitchen, dining room and bathroom. It's habitable, with oil-fired central heating and a fitted kitchen, and the grounds include several outbuildings. It's three-and-a-half kilometres from Athleague, and about 30 kilometres from Athlone, where you can get on the M6 to Dublin.

Just down the road from Sarsfield Barracks in Limerick is a complex of early 20th-century redbricks called Quin's Cottages, in Prospect Hill, overlooking Barracks Field and about a 15-minute walk to O'Connell Street. Number 9 is an end-terrace and has been fully renovated. At 915 sq ft, it has a kitchen with an exposed brick wall, a living room with a fireplace, and a dining room with sliding doors to a gravelled back patio. There are three bedrooms, two of them with original fireplaces, and a bathroom with a sunken bath.

Rose Cottage is a pretty, 19th century house that's been partly refurbished, but still has original features such as stone floors, fireplaces in every room, and a half-door. It has two small bedrooms, a kitchen and a sitting room with a vaulted timber ceiling, original floor, and a fireplace with a solid-fuel stove in it. There's another original fireplace in the kitchen, and one in each of the two bedrooms. It's set on a half-acre site in a wooded area, between Kinnegad and Trim. A well has been drilled on the site but not connected.

Should you be in the humour to give money to Donald Trump, you could do so easily enough from this detached cottage, as it's only about eight kilometres from Trump International golf links in Doonbeg. If you prefer not to, there are golf courses at Kilkee, Kilrush, Lahinch and Ennis. The cottage is on 0.3 of an acre, with a block-built garage, old stone workshop and shed, and a lawned garden. The house is 943 sq ft with a living room, sitting room, kitchen, shower room and three bedrooms, one of them in the attic.
