The Knockaderry reservoir near Kilmeaden in Co Waterford is a shallow, 80-acre lake celebrated locally for its stock of native wild brown trout. You have to release them if you catch them though.
Close to the reservoir is Inisfree, a detached bungalow in the townland of Carrickphilip, and from its elevated position you can see the lake and ramble over for a spot of fishing when the season permits.
Despite its name, this is far from being a small cabin "of clay and wattles made". Size-wise it's 2,271 sq ft, having been extended and refurbished throughout in recent years.
It has four bedrooms - one with an en-suite shower room and all four with built-in wardrobes - and three living rooms.
The main one is an open-plan kitchen, dining room and family room, measuring some 38ft by 11ft. This room has a fireplace with a solid-fuel stove and there are patio doors leading to the garden.
The second main reception room is a sun room running the full length of the house, with floor-to-ceilings windows at both the front and the back.
This room also has a vaulted ceiling with skylights, and doors to the garden. There's another solid fuel stove here, and double doors leading to a dining room with a reproduction antique fireplace.
The house is on 1.3 acres of gardens, with extensive lawns, as well as rockeries, a pergola and shrubbery.
There are patios at the front and the back, and parking is at the end of the tarred driveway.
Inisfree is about five kilometres from the village of Kilmeaden, and about 12 kilometres from Waterford city via the N25. There you can get onto the M9 motorway and reach Dublin in about two hours.
It's for sale for €350,000 with REA O'Shea O'Toole in Waterford (051) 876 757.
