A choice of eco-friendly semi-detached and detached houses have been launched at the Holywell development, in Kilcoole between Greystones and Delgany, in Co Wicklow.

A combination of solar panels which heat the water, insulation, air tightness, efficient gas boilers and flueless gas fires and efficient light fittings have boosted the building energy rating of these houses to B1. The highest is A1 and the worst is G.

Cost conscious buyers will appreciate how the solar panels will provide 60pc of a household's annual hot water requirement at no cost while all the energy innovations are expected to generate further cost savings.

Extending to 92.9sqm, the three-bedroom semi-detached houses are priced at €265,000 while three-bedroom detached houses, which measure 132sqm and come with a study, are priced at €395,000.

Designed in a traditional style, Holywell is built around generous green spaces which are ideal for family living. Each house has its own driveway and private rear gardens. BBA Architecture designed the homes to create a sense of spacious interiors suited to the requirements of both first-time buyers or for growing families who wish to upgrade to larger homes.

Inside the stylish features include luxurious fitted kitchens, custom-fitted wardrobes, quality sanitary ware and coordinated wall tiling in kitchen, main bathroom, en suite and downstairs wc.

Kingscroft Developments, a division of the Abbey Plc, have already successfully sold out phases one and two of Holywell and this latest phase of 47 homes will see the development completed.

The estate takes its name from a natural spring or holy well associated in local tradition with a nearby 12th century church.

Located on the Sea Road, the homes will be convenient to a wide range of leisure facilities available locally including some of Wicklow's finest beaches such as Kilcoole Beach, Silver Strand and Brittas Bay. Druids Glen Golf Resort, Woodbrook, Old Conna, Glen of the Downs and Powerscourt are also just a short drive away.

Commuters can avail of the train service at Kilcoole, the DART at Greystones, or the N11/M11 Motorway. Dublin Bus provides the 84 service from Kilcoole Village to the city centre.

The new show house is on view weekdays from 10am to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday 2-5pm.
