Bray riverside cottage up for auction at €800k
Dargle Lodge AMV €800k

From Bray's Upper Dargle Road you can see very little of Dargle Lodge apart from its electric wooden gates. But beyond the gates is a bit of wonderland.
As the name suggests, the house is on the banks of the Dargle, and there's also a stream wandering through the 0.56 acre of verdant gardens, crossed by a wooden bridge.
The house's proportions appear dainty and cottage-like, but a back extension has boosted the floor area to 2,142 sq ft. And though there are plenty of skylights, it's all on the one floor; the skylights are there to draw sunshine into several double-height rooms within.
As it's described for the sale, there are four potential bedrooms, but if you were to make use of them all you'd be missing out on at least one very pleasant reception room.
To the right of the marble-tiled entrance hall is a drawing room with a bay window. To the left there's a corresponding reception room, also bay-windowed, now described as a bedroom. Behind the drawing room there' a study (or fourth bedroom).
The main living room apart from that is a big, open-plan kitchen, living and dining room in the extension. It has a vaulted ceiling and seven sets of French doors to different parts of the garden.
The French-style kitchen has an Aga, marble countertops and a centre island, and there's a limestone fireplace in the living area.
Off the kitchen there's a utility room and guest toilet, and the main bathroom is at the end of the entrance hall, tiled in marble and with a raised bath. Next to this is the en-suite master bedroom, which has three sets of French doors to a deck over the stream outside.
Dargle Lodge, Upper Dargle Road, Bray, Co Wicklow, will be auctioned next Wednesday, March 9 by Knight Frank (01) 634 2466. The AMV is €800,000.
